For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. (Hebrews 9:13-14). Here the writer argues that if the blood of animals can cleanse you or do something good for you, then how much more the blood of Jesus can.. As long as these people dont realize the truth that the Atonement was done once and for all in the Mount of CALVARY, there will continue to sacrifice these animals without understanding what they do. For it is written in Hebrews 9:22 that Without shedding of blood there is no remission. I John 1:7 tells us that The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin...John the Baptist said “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29).. There is no need for these sacrifices.. Turn your lives to Christ.. To obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.(1 Samuel 15:22). Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly. (Isaiah 1:13). One may ask why did the God allow similar type of animal sacrifices in the Old Testament times and Vedic period. The answer is: All those sacrifices that took place under the old covenant is just a shadow /copy of the true sacrifice (atonement) that was about to take place at Calvary in the later days. Christ has done it once and for all.. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
