For law students seeking meaningful Internships for the summer - TopicsExpress

For law students seeking meaningful Internships for the summer (extended summer for UP Law students), the Ateneo School of Government will be leading a consortium of organizations that will recruit interns to service the legal needs of people, especially the poor, in Yolanda affected areas. Urgent legal assistance - from restoration of civil identity to legal advice on properties and implications of deaths in the family, to policy advocacy on environmental and other disaster related issues - is needed. We are putting together a group of lawyers and law students who are willing to help meet this need. A commitment to stay for at least one month up to a maximum of two momths in the Leyte-Samar and potentially other Yolanda affected areas will be required of all interns. The internship will come with world-class training on environmental, climate change, and disaster law, both national and international, and lifetime mentoring as well. Interns will. Interns will not be compensated but travel and living expenses will be paid for. Join us and have an adventure, meet peers and others and make friendships, learn by serving, and make a difference for yourself and others. If you are interested, send me a personal message. Or you come to an information meeting on April 21, 530pm, at the Ateneo School of Government in the Loyola Campus of the Ateneo de Manila. The internship is expected to be begin the first week of May. Do let me know if you are able to come on April 21, so I know how many to expect.
