For many years I believed that the police and civil authorities were public servants who were dedicated to serve and protect. I was completely confident that they were fair and reasonable and were working for a greater good. I felt that everyone should just cooperate and give police whatever they ask for and if the police wrote a ticket or arrested someone they had just cause. Of course as a white male I had little experience with being targeted or assumed as guilty. As I get older and drive an older model car and oftentimes find myself driving on roads in other cities or states, I am now seen as a person of interest for stops. I now am aware of what many have claimed was going on for many years. Guilty until proven innocent and show me your papers are practices of a society that is not free. It was a practice of Russia and Nazi Germany. Now, through American complacency and fear of bad guys we have given up our belief in our fellow Americans to do the right thing and have turned our liberty over to a police state. If you act and think the right way or are wealthy enough you probably are safe for a little while, but eventually liberty and justice for all will be just a slogan with no meaning in the USA. youtube/watch?v=iilenxbahgs
