For many years I have been buying my grocery from this vegetable stall (Empress Road Market) managed by a friendly old couple. Last year, their son, Terrence (Ah Chye) took over the running of the stall. Without fail, Terrence serves everyone that patronises his stall with his brightest and most cheerful smile. It may be a small little stall but Terrence manages it with much pride and his utmost honesty. I especially enjoy reading those motivational notes written by him displayed in the stall. The domestic helpers also enjoy the leisurely banter of bargaining with him. Just today I chanced upon a French couple and asked if I could have a photograph of them together with Terrence - they told me the reason they kept going back to him was because of his great personality and superb service! Today is the last day of the year and I had bought all my vegetables from Terrence to prepare for a potluck party tonight. Indeed a wonderful encounter and a beautiful end to 2014, I will treasure and share this beautiful moment with all my friends. Thank you for the inspiration Terrence.
