For most of us, the 1st thing we say is...”I know exactly where I was when”. Just a couple weeks ago Anna and I discussed this day in history again. With tears in her eyes she told me that she could still remember calling my daddy and saying, “turn on the radio, America is under attack”. And for the 1st time, she told me how it affected my daddy and she that I was in downtown Dallas, at that point #6 on the list of prime terrorist targets, during one of the scariest moments of our collective lives; they were desperate to have me by their sides and I them. During this time, I was walking the 5 blocks from my parking lot to the Bank One tower, blissfully unaware of the news that had broken seconds after I got out of my car; by the time, I made it to my desk, people were huddled around radios and TVs fully aware that our Nation and our lives had just spun on a dime. It was only, maybe, 30 minutes before Daddy and Anna were able to hear my voice to confirm that I was coming to be with them. I still remember being able to ride the elevator down from my desk in the sky and today I’m reminded of all of those people who huddled in staircases waiting for the taste of freedom from those towers in NYC. Hearing Anna say that Daddy, the bravest, most courageous and faithful man I ever knew, was frantic for me that day changed my life again. Please don’t forget the significance of today; please don’t forget what it still means to the families, friends and coworkers of people in those towers and in the Pentagon, and on a plane, this day 12 years ago. Please don’t forget the men and women who have fought, and 1000s who have made the ultimate sacrifice since, to keep our way of life FREE and NOBLE and unique from anywhere else on the planet. Politics aside, the soil of this country, and many others, has tasted the blood of the Brothers-in-Arms that stand between us and another attack. Never forget! Only 2 defining forces have ever died for YOU: Jesus and the American soldier.
