For most people today is just another day, as it was to us a year ago. Now this day has a new meaning...its a day that is recognized for a horrible uncurable disease our little guy deals with. Its a day to raise awarness for Diabetes. Diabetes doesnt just come around or show up on November 14th because its the official awarness day. For us, and many others, we live with diabetes every minute of every day. For us, we advocate for our children every day, not just today. We never get a break from Diabetes and it wont just go away after this day. I can say from first hand experience, we do need more awarness. I wasnt aware before Talon was diagnosed. I was like everyone else....today was just another day. For the rest of our lives, today will always be so much more. We will still continue to fight and raise awareness everyday after this. We NEED a CURE. My little guy doesnt deserve to have to only know a life of shots and pokes. Feeling miserable daily from the constant ups and downs of his sugars. Having to sit out at playtime to treat a low. A 5 year old shouldnt have to worry about having to eat every bite of food when hes so full because he was dosed for it. Or have to make sure someone has measured out everything that goes into his mouth because one mistake could be fatal. Its not fair!!!! He is a fighter, and we will continue to fight with him everyday until a cure is found. Until the day he knows hes free. We will never give up HOPE for that day.
