For my Dad on Veterans Day. Dad thank you so much for loving us and loving our Country to serve in WWII. To defend, to honor, so that we can have the freedom to live safely. My Dad, Edward Adam Joseph Deczynski enlisted at 17 years old in the United States Marine Corp. He was with the Red Devils Squadron 232. He flew as a radio gunner at the time he earned his Sergeant Stripes in a Grumman wildcat torpedo bomber. He also was a gunner in the Dauntless dive bomber. He was wounded twice during his duty in the Marines both while in flight. Attacked by the enemy ack ack shrapnel in his left leg at Okinawa and a Japanese fighter plane bullet in his right arm.He served with Pilot E. Gilligan, John Gill-Torret gunner and some of his buddies: Sergeants Eddie Covell, Constantine(Gus) Foditas, Paul Urich and Staff Sergeant Raymond Nikin.
