For my Father-in-law, the local ALS Association provided support groups for him, support groups for the family, counseling, transportation because he was unable drive (which helped family members not miss too many days from work and still get Paul to his many doctor appointments). They also helped the family to coordinate and understand the various specialists and therapists Paul needed for his care. We estimated that the Association donated, loaned, or coordinated with other organizations to provide Paul with over $100,000 in medical equipment and supplies. Long after Paul passed, the Association was supportive of the family in their period of transition. I cant say enough positive about how effectively our local ALS Association utilizes its resources and touches the lives of the families involved.
