For my fellow British followers I thought I’d put the American government shutdown into some perspective. The American government is shutting down, in my opinion, because rich, conservative Republicans don’t want poor people to have free healthcare. Currently the average cost of insurance for a healthy, non-smoking person in America is around £2,479 a year or around £6,703 an average family, a full time, minimum wage worker in America earns around £9,290 on average, this means Health Insurance takes almost 27% of a single, full time American persons annual wage.
