For my little friend stuck in school. So you say your teacher doesnt understand pre-algebra and had no idea what a triangle number is. First, you can go to school tomorrow and tell her they are very cute. Like right here... Triangle numbers - these numbers are 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, … Now have her find the pattern in finding triangle numbers. 1=1 1+2=3 1+2+3=6 1+2+3+4=10 1+2+3+4+5= ? So take a little set of building blocks so you can give her a visual. Like if you put two little block together, and then one on top and in the middle, it will form a little stair step building...triangle shape. Now open your eyes and say, Isnt that cool? Then show her how you can make other buildings, but bigger. Then smile and ask in your most pleasant voice if she understands now. You will either get extra credit or a trip to the office. :)
