For my non-Mormon friends, this is a snapshot of Mormon culture -- - TopicsExpress

For my non-Mormon friends, this is a snapshot of Mormon culture -- that I am so much a part of now that my little Joy is in the MTC -- Missionary Training Center -- getting ready to go to Busan. It starts off with the call -- scenes of opening the letter that tells you where you -- or your daughter, in my case -- will be spending the next 18 months of her life. Then it shows scenes of going into the MTC, saying goodbye to family and hello to new companions. Then scenes of contacting, teaching, and a lot of praying. Then scenes of coming home -- that made me tear-up. Heavens!, it all made me tear-up, thinking about my baby girl going off to serve in this way. And the background music is the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing, Ill go where you want me to go -- the missionary anthem for us. So, if you see a couple of young missionaries in your neighborhood, you can think of them as a bother, but you might think of them as someones son or daughter -- and invite them in and ask them if they will pray for you and bless your home. You dont have to become a Mormon, but together you can share gratitude for the goodness of the Lord in your life. Im grateful for this blessing in my familys life. Just thought Id tell you about my tender feelings as I think about turning over my child to the Lords care and keeping for a season.
