For neuro geeks: This is exactly what Ive been saying for much of my career. Understanding neurons is a great thing, but the real need is to make sense of the relationship between neural activity and behavior. For this, we need scientists who study thoughts, feelings and behaviour – psychologists – as much as we need those who study anatomy and physiology. Study of the brain requires investigation at all levels – otherwise, we will have a complete characterisation, but no understanding, of this remarkable organ.
