For our April 14 song-a-day AATW travels to the Southeast Asian - TopicsExpress

For our April 14 song-a-day AATW travels to the Southeast Asian nation of Laos, where we exuberantly mark the Laotian new year, known popularly as Pi Mai, by soaking anyone who walks by with flower-scented water or shaving cream, clean our Buddhist shrines, bring sand to the pagoda, pick flowers and set all the animals free. (According to Wikipedia the most commonly freed animals are tortoises, fish, crabs, birds [and] eels . . .) AATW celebrates Pi Mai with Lets Write a Song, our version of a Laotian traditional morlam, which is a genre of music with lyrics that are usually both bawdy and improvised.
