For our Wednesday Board Game Night, we have Ascension:Chronicle of the Godslayer hosted by Rob. He runs a monthly Sunday gaming event at the Vernon Area Public Library. If you got time, go out and show your support. With our love for the DC Deckbuilder, I feel its real origins are based off the groundwork that this game has set forth. Ascension to me feels more faction based and simpler(not easier, but more streamlined). Instrumental in the development of the game are a trio of MTG players, so you know the game has a solid base for card gamers of all sorts. Everyone starts with the same start deck of fighters, and characters that have runes, the currency in the game. You buy stronger cards for your deck from one of the four factions from the lineup in the center of the board. Often focusing on the acquisition of one factions cards in your deck creates better synergy to make stronger plays each round. The fighting cards also are considered their own currency, as some of the cards in the lineup can only be acquired through fighting them. You are basically fighting for honor, which is this games version of victory points. There is an array of gems to earn for the game and when that pile is depleted the game is over. Youll add up the honor points on your cards along with the gems in your pile to determine the winner. For your review:https://youtube/watch?v=lYq8pCsx9u8 All participants will get 20% off their board game purchases, so come on out and have fun with us. We also play other games beyond the feature game so there are several choices to satisfy your board game hunger.
