For people buying or cutting hay after June here in western KY, beware of the low nutrient content. These reports were done on our hay cut in June. Some are alfalfa mix and most are mixed grasses. The protein and TDN levels were lower than expected. Bottom line, supplements will be needed this winter if you have cut or bought hay July or beyond...hopefully it will come a good steady rain for several days to where the next batch of hay will keep our horses healthy!
