For quite some time now my 7-year-old has maintained that she does - TopicsExpress

For quite some time now my 7-year-old has maintained that she does not like scallops! But the rest of us do, so I occasionally cook them for dinner including last night (much to her dismay). She whined and complained when she saw what I was making, and since I was not really in the mood for an argument (are we ever?) I said I make food you like most of the time, *please* just eat a couple bites for me tonight because THIS is what were having for dinner. So then halfway through dinner I look over and her entire plate is seriously empty (I had given her maybe 3 or 4 medium sized scallops), and she said Mom, I decided I like scallops. Can I have seconds? I about fell out of my chair!! I am sharing this because I think its so important to keep putting a variety of foods on your childs plate even if they think they dont like it. Asking them to take just one bite each and every time is a reasonable request, and Ive personally had a lot of success offering them foods they dont like over and over again (it also helps to make those foods in different ways - not the same recipe every time). Oh and in case youre wondering this is how I made the scallops: 100daysofrealfood/2012/01/30/recipe-proscuitto-wrapped-scallops/
