For several days this week ESPN hosted panels about a manufactured fury over Marvin Lewis using the word midget to describe Johnny Manziel. Supposedly it was insulting to midgets and an awful thing to say. Today that same network is hosting, as I write this, the Pop Warner championship of youngsters. Which they call the midget championship. If midgets are so easily offended then surely they dont appreciate young people being called midgets? Where is the fury ESPN? There should not actually be any fury. Im not saying there should be any. Im pointing out the hypocrisy of the manufactured controversy. For what they did to Marvin Lewis, for using an offhanded in offensive term, I hope that ESPN has a firestorm of hell rain down on them today.
