For several years my sister has been tracing our family history. For the most part my mothers side of the family right now. We over the years had lost trace of our cousins, so we felt we had a small family unit. She found a cousin of ours in Gainesville, Texas we hadnt seen in years. We went to visit her and her husband for the day. It was a wonderful visit. She took us to the cemetery where our grandparents and two aunts were buried. The last time I had been to the cemetery was when I was 20 yrs. old, when my grandmother passed. Her daughter-in-law had done a family history tracing our grandfather Jesse Sharp, all the way to the 1700s. The Sharp family origins were Scotland, then Northern Ireland. We made copies of all the papers before our return home and we took pictures. After several weeks I decided to see if I could fine any first cousins on FB. So I started looking and was so excited to find 2 first cousins and another 1st cousin just today. The amazing thing is my daughter had this friend from middle school that she was friends with on FB and somehow they were talking back and forth on Sunday. She called me to ask some questions about did I have a cousin named Linda and to make a long story short, I said I did. In the process they discovered they are second cousin. They have know each other for 25 years.....AMAZING!!..... I hope we can get together for a cousins reunion in the very near future. In the meantime stay in close touch with family members. Its so easy to get busy with raising kids and staying busy with your family, you lose touch with the other part of your family.........
