For so many years, every time I called my mother we would just - TopicsExpress

For so many years, every time I called my mother we would just talked about the weather and shed tell me all about what other people she knows are up to. As a result, we never talked about anything deep, meaningful or important, so one day I challenged her to never again talk about the weather, and to no longer gossip about others (no sentences that start with He, She, or They). Yes, it was REALLY awkward at first, but then we started talking about our beliefs, our dreams, fears, relationships, and what we think happens to people after they die. She told me stories about her childhood that I would have otherwise never gotten a chance to hear. This experiment taught me that setting some boundaries can be a very healthy thing. What you allow is what will continue!
