For some reason, people keep sending me emails asking what I think of the Bill Cosby thing. Folks, I have no opinion. I offer no opinion because Im smart enough to know that I dont have an actual opinion. I for sure dont know anything, one way or the other. You dont know anything either, no you dont. What we actually have is the usual preconceived notions filtered by our own inherent biases based on lurid media accounts designed to sell as much copy as possible. And in this day and age it is just too damned easy for the howling mob to crucify both the accuser and the accused and youve seen it happen more than enough times to know better. What I think is that this kind of sensationalistic mentality is a metaphor for much, much larger problems. Its bad enough that the accusation against Cosby may be true without people maliciously wishing that it is. Edit: As noted by a commenter, its also bad enough that the accusers may be making false accusations without people wishing that they are. Bottom line: If youve already picked a side, youre likely operating from your own bias instead of from actual fact.
