For someone of my fairly advanced years, theres one blindingly obvious thing about the new pound coin, due to be introduced in 2017. It looks like a thrupenny bit. Now, there has to be some significance in this, whether its a comment on the ravages of inflation versus wage rises since 1971, or just some rhyming-slang summing-up of our gallant Chancellor, Gideon, as he attempts to go about his job sans Economics O-level. Its a strange old world.
