For the QLD Premier and PM to say that this was un-Australian is a bit naive and again is an attempt to sweep this countrys blemish under the carpet, denying that no-one else in this country shares the same racist sentiments. Australia was founded on racist ideologies that persist to this day and this young stupid redneck caught on camera has brought to the surface again that which simmers under the facade of a so called fair go lucky country. Believe me he is not a freak and is sadly not alone in his views- just read his friends comments on his FB page for a start but go further and type the word Abo or Boong (names I was called in the 70s and 80s) and see what you get. Oh and dont forget the Cronulla Riots when racists crawled out of the woodwork- John Howard said that was un-Australian too. - Captain Cook regarded Aborigines as equal to apes and so founded Australia based on Tera Nullius (land belonging to no-one) - land theft and all out slaughter of Aboriginal people was common practise of the first settlers - The scientific racism/eugenics movement drove racist policy toward Aboriginals up until the mid 1900s (whites thought that they needed to improve the black man by teaching him to be white- elevating them from ape status) - The assimilation policy was an extension of this thinking- getting Aboriginal people to deny their heritage in order to become a second class citizen - The stolen generation- kids ripped from their mothers arms apparently for their own good so they could be raised white- no justification needed after 1915 - police and welfare officers could just take the kids without proving in the court neglect- this carried on until the 1970s - segregation - White Australia Policy- hello!!!! - slave labour... - 2007 NT Intervention was based on racism- no pedophilia was investigated in any other community but the Aboriginal communities of the NT - no-ones income was managed by the government except the Aboriginal people of the NT and so on... When racism is so entrenched in historical government policy and the social psyche of the nation, social racism is handed down from generation to generation and it will continue to do so until harsher penalties are given to those who break our anti-discrimination laws. Those girls who racially abused, bashed and spit on that poor old Aboriginal man on that bus earlier this year got a suspended sentence and were told to write an apology letter- a slap on the wrist basically. If these boys dont get jailed for this, they are basically condoned and sanctioned by the government and I wouldnt be surprised. I appreciate all the Australian support of the African Australian security guard but lets not kid ourselves that this is un-Australian- if you ask me its very Australian- unfortunately. Also dont forget we have white supremist groups including the KKK operating in this country - un Australian peh! We really need to redefine what Australian really means... We really need to start from scratch as a nation to move on- re-invent ourselves- change our flag, national anthem and hey what a bout a Treaty for the first people of this country whose land was stolen not ceded??? Could be a good start.
