For the information of Dr. Tamakloe and all, there has never been a revolution in Ghana. What happened in Ghana in 1966, 1972, 1979 and 1981 were not revolutions although the leaders chose to give that name to their actions. Those events were just violent interferences by some soldiers in the affairs of government. True revolutions are not led by anybody, soldier or civilian. Revolutions, real revolutions are spontaneous eruptions of anger that emanate from the people without anyone having to prod them on. That has never happened in Ghana. We have had coups détat in which persons or groups of people have taken arms and taken over radio and television stations to announce changes in government instigated by themselves for whatever purposes. A revolution would imply that at a certain point in time all carpenters,mechanics, fufu pounders, farmers, taxi drivers, housewives, would spontaneously march on the seat of government with their hammers and saws,spanners and screwdrivers, fufu pestles and cooking pot and mercilessly remove all people and symbols of the old political systems. I feel that kind of anger boiling up in Ghanaians because of the suffering they have to endure in the face of blatantly shameless, luxurious and affluent lifestyles of the ruling political class and its associates. After the initial spontaneous violence has died down there might emerge a group of persons who would assume some form of leadership. Usually the first groups of so called leaders are also consumed by the fire of the people because they initially do not recognise the determination of ALL OF THE PEOPLE to completely destroy all signs of the old ways of doing things and replace them with new structures and offices that suit their common aspirations. Then we can have a revolutionarised society. To arrive at that, unfortunately, we will be left with huge heaps of the rubble of the past and a lot of blood. Then can future generations enjoy.
