For the last week I have been reading posts from a sweet young lady about her baby in the nicu. I pray for her and her little one daily. At first, it made me think of when Jacob was in the nicu when he was born; but this morning it made me think of my parents! In 1960, they made the trip to the hospital every night to see me from my birth (11/11) until Christmas Day when I finally was released to go home. They tell the story about the one day they missed, and that was because they were involved in a car accident on the way to the hospital! They spent a lot of time in the hospital barracks at Fort Meade in Maryland. Waiting for your baby to come home is very hard.....waiting to see if your baby will make it is extremely hard. My mom said that her best birthday present ever was when I gained my first 1/4 of an ounce on her birthday (11/19)! Thank you, Mom and Dad! Prayers go out to all of you who are dealing with a premie or a newborn who is struggling with health issues.
