For the longest time, I had this dream of producing a lavish 1980s-themed rock musical science fiction story, one in which a battle of the bands took on cosmic significance — sort of like in Brutal Legend, but more Cool World meets Bladerunner than straight up metal-fantasy — and where the protagonists were a struggling hard rock cover band from some small town or another. Just imagine Moulin Rouge, but futuristic instead of Parisian, but still featuring all sorts of fantastic music from the 1980s. Problem was I could never write a script worthy of the concept . . . mainly because I suck at screenwriting, because I have too many visual ideas to just cram into a script and hope the director shares them. I think this would make a good project for either Tim Burton or perhaps Timur Bekmambatov, or perhaps Zack Snyder, as the film would basically be Sucker Punch only with more musical numbers. So what are you people waiting? Hop to it and make it happen and Ill sign on as executive producer!
