For the love of god!! If youre going to offer services of any kind, make sure youve mastered your craft. At least taken some sort of education class. And have some sort of insurance. Even better: GET A LICENSE. I say mastered because there is no actual mastering any sort of hair or makeup service. ((Of any service for that after)) Theres constant change in this field so therefore theres always room to grow and learn. And if youre charging money for your services. Like actual dollar bills. Or pounds. Or any sort of currency and you dont have any of the above listed: shame. on. you. Even if youre in school, thats wrong. Try charging for cost of product or do an even trade. Youre learning for cheeses sake! ((Disclaimer: I did some kitchen hair in my day while in school. Its a great way to learn! And force yourself to figure things out on your own. But I didnt make money off it. I broke even with what I spent for the service. I kept my receipts and everything.)) But how is it morally ethical to charge as much as a salon, or anything more than what it cost you when you do an unlicensed service? How do you sleep at night?! There are hidden dangers in this field and if you dont have the proper training for it, you cant prevent it. This goes for anything. Hair. Makeup. Photography. Tattoos. All the Susie homemaker Betty crafts-a-lot people. Even you kitchen-color-hair- people. Im tired of seeing uneducated people advertising services that have zero business doing so. And Im tired of people complaining about my prices because someone else can do it cheaper. Keep in mind the professionals have the education and experiences to back their prices. You get what you pay for. End. Rant. And dont you creepers (yeah, I know there are some) even think for one second this is about butthurt-edness. Its. Not. Its exactly what it is. Black and white. Frustration and concern for the quality of work, the safety of clients, and the respect for the industry and crafts of others.
