For the next installment of the Clubhouse update: A tour of the new Trego dining facilities starts with the Gambrel Roof section generally located in the middle of the current barn structure; this section will remain and be home to the main entrance foyer for the Trego barn’s dining facilities. Left of the Gambrel entry is the Stone Barn that can be seen from the parking lot. The Stone section will be the home of several areas including a Family Dining with a kids Game/Wii Room, a private function space suitable for gatherings of approximately 50 persons, as well as the kitchen facilities. Right of the Gambrel entrance Foyer will be the newly constructed Bar & Grill featuring an indoor/outdoor bar, booth and table seating as well as outside deck seating. The lower level will house our golf cart storage area with an on grade access to the Cart staging area by the 19th tee. Threshing Room Floor and other Historic ingredients A key feature of the historic barn includes the preservation of the main section of the Threshing Room Floor. This part of the barn was originally used for unloading and winnowing grain, which allowed for the grain to be efficiently separated from the shaft and then processed. The threshing room floor is not an often seen feature of Chester County Barns and our design team worked diligently to incorporate the preservation of a significant section of it into the final design. This floor area will be part of the upper level private function space; its location is also well suited to provide handicap access to the private function area from the parking lot . Additional historic elements remaining in the Gambrel and Stone Barn sections are the various forms of exposed wood supports, rough cut beams, parged stone walls, flooring and wall panels. Our team intends to keep all the current character in the finished product while bringing the facility up to modern codes for its intended use. Its exciting to be working with such a unique structure and all the various components especially with all the possibilities available to re-use existing materials in our new design. Dining tables, seating booths, hand railings, wainscoting, bars, cabinets and host stations are all being considered. Our new project Manager, Chris Yates, is from Lancaster County, and already has a long list of local vendors that are being interviewed for the millwork and restoration aspects of the project. Unique Dining Ingredient - Family Dining and Kids Game/Wii Room The family dining area located in the historic stone barn was a ‘must have’ program element from the inception of design. Having distinct casual and family dining areas is an important feature. We know how challenging it can be sometimes to take the family out and keep the kids occupied while their parents finish dinner or to find a generally kid friendly atmosphere at a restaurant. The “Wii Room” was first deployed at our sister Club Talamore and it has been a huge success. We hope the combination of cozy booths and the privacy of this dining area will be extremely popular with all the families at Applecross .
