For the past 3 years Ive been at McNally there has been this one specific homeless man that I would see on occasion just hanging out around McNally. Ive had 5 minute conversations with him about 2 times within those 3 years. I seen him sitting inside McNally today just warming up. Instead of waving to him and going about my day, I sat down with him and just talked. We spoke for one whole hour about his life, where he is living, what his daily schedule is, where he used to work, his divorce, how he eats, and a bunch more. He has been living in a tent on the bluffs of st. Paul for 15 years. At 52 years old and in his situation He doesnt consider himself homeless because he has plenty of blankets, a backpack full of canned food, clothes on his back, and a daily route of survival to collect what he needs. He even takes a day out of the week to just sit and enjoy the weather and people watch, even if its snowing outside. I learned more about how beautiful life really is and how much we actually take for granted just in that single hour talking with Gordan. He even turned me down when I offered to buy him dinner, no no no bless you but my bag is full of canned goods. Im set for the week!. We shared a hug and parted ways. I hope that everybody can someday meet their own Gordan.
