For the past few days I have been visiting Sydney. Yesterday Marilyn Madigan took me on a gastronomic and wine tour (bar/restaurant hopping!) not to mention two ferry rides all over the rather large Sydney Harbor. Every time we hit land we enjoyed yet another glass of wine and food!! On Sunday we took in a Sydney all breed show so I had the opportunity to see some of the dogs from New South Wales area. Interesting to see how the all breed shows are set up and managed to take in the English Toy Spaniels competition (one of which was imported from Connecticut!) as well as some Tibetan spaniels that are actually in the Toy Group. Like South Africa, exhibitors pitch small canopies and tents around the rings sort of like we see at our agility trials. Definitely different from our AKC shows and very different from the CKCSC shows that are all held in the comfort of climate controlled hotel ballrooms!! Today I took a guided tour around the Sydney Opera House. It is magnificent with free standing (no pillars holding it up) concrete "sails" and the outside is covered with Swedish white and beige tiles hence the reason the Opera House shines in the sun. Walked around the town and ended up at an airport hotel where I will spend the night before catching a flight to Los Angeles and finally NewYork. I gain a day tho! Leave on Wed and arrive on Wed. Coming out here I left on Wednesday and arrived on Friday. Lost a day somewhere there!!!!!
