For those avid hikers and outdoors type people. Yesterday, September 3rd, my father and I had finished climbing Benson, coming down the Witchcraft Lake Trail. We were about 20min from the parking lot when we came upon a cougar. We believe the wind was blowing towards us, up the mountain, so it did not even know we were coming towards it. Within a blink of an eye it grabbed my Charli and took off….. We have contacted the conservation officers who are out searching with their search dogs. As this happened in the wilderness, and it took a dog, they wouldnt plan on killing it. I am GRATEFUL for this. They believe it would be long gone by now, as they travel a lot of distance. Chances are its gone on the other side of the mountain or moved in land. I honestly believe it was a freak accident……and I truly appreciate the love flowing in….. Mind is definitely numb at this point and I am struggling to get the sound and what happened out of my mind.
