For those following along in our Sunday series through the book of Revelation (chapters 4-5 for this Sunday), heres a tip on reading this apocalyptic piece of literature: Read it quickly looking for the big picture. Avoid forcing into any sort of chronology as each new scene reveals what is going on not what will happen next in time. Assume that most of it is symbolic so dont look for one to one correlations with past, present or future events. Instead, get a sense for the whole. Allow it to speak to your imagination so you get the feel John is intending to communicate instead of trying to imagine what a creature covered in eyes looks like.
