For those interested this is my latest missive in the Parish Magazine: Floody Thoughts. Well I have had been taken to task as I missed the November edition and a certain gentleman was deprived of his monthly fix of “Doom and Gloom” as he puts it. OK while his comments were in fun and I always enjoy a pleasant chat with him. He did make me reflect on how my articles are perceived. While my ego would like to think all my words are pearls of wisdom, the reality is for some they they may be useful and I hope thought provoking. For others they may be seen as on the lines of “teaching Granny to suck eggs”, and yet others will read them and use choice Anglo Saxon phrases. Well agree or disagree with me, the thought of what would you do in the event of a flood has at least entered the thought train, and therefore hopefully better prepared than if no thought at all was given to the matter. Talking of which If you look at the Parish Clerks notes we are holding a public session with regard to the Chapel fields and Flood/Emergency planning. I am running my part (flood/emergency plan) as a drop in session and will be happy to discuss any relevant issues. I mentioned in October that we may have an additional flood warden, well I am pleased to say Harry has agreed to take on the role and work alongside me. I have also invited him to write some of the Floody Thoughts articles, and will no doubt introduce himself more fully and put his own perspective on flooding. As this will be the last article before the festive season, may I take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.
