For those of you concerned about my sister, she was life flighted to Pittsburgh last night where they performed emergency surgery. This all started with a sore throat on Sunday. They diagnosed her with necrotizing fasciitis of the esophagus, which is a flesh eating bacteria. As we were leaving to go see her today, her husband called to tell us that they are taking her back in for another surgery to try to remove more of the bacteria and see deeper into her throat because there was so much swelling yesterday. She was unable to breathe on her own. They placed a tracheotomy, so she is unable to speak. We decided to go tomorrow instead when hopefully she will be more alert. They are treating this very aggressively even though the doctors have never seen anything like this before. Please, please, please continue to pray for her and our family. She is so scared, as are we all. I feel so helpless in all of this. It was a sore throat for Gods sake. Do me a favor please and let your children, family, friends and loved ones know how much you love them. Squeeze them a little tighter and dont take a single moment for granted. We are not promised tomorrow. Make today count and really understand that in any moment of any day your life can change. This feels like a nightmare. Im just praying for a miracle for my sister. Thats all I can do.
