For those of you going to the Championship game on Friday, here are some thoughts to make the experience less stressful - 1) Buy your tickets in advance for $9 rather than $12 at Lahaina or Kahana branch First Hawaiian Bank. However, if you want to pay the $5 student ticket price, you can only get that at the Stadium box office. Check out the press release below for more details. 2) Get to the Stadium early, or hang out near the Halawa/Pearlridge area because traffic can get nutz! - As you can already imagine from trying to get airline tickets or hotel reservations, Oahu is BUSY this weekend. Jehovahs Witness convention at the Convention Center with about 12,000 participants . . . UH Football Saturday night at Aloha Stadium vs. UNLV - I think its Senior Night, too . . . combine all these masses of people with ongoing construction/work on the freeways, road closures due to the RAIL construction, and a 4:30pm start time on a Friday (Pau Hana traffic), best you get to the stadium EARLY . . . and I mean, EARLY! Back in 2007, I remember leaving my hotel about an hour early for the Stadium - a drive that would normally take 10-15 minutes. Well, it took over an hour and a half of gridlock stop and go driving before we got there! The Lunas bus was late, too, so the game started late and we didnt miss the start of the game, but it was super stressful. 3) Be prepared for some crazy weather - You never know! In 2012, it was hot and sunny then all of a sudden, an hour before the game, it started downpouring! There was even a hail alert! My camera gear still suffering from the effects of all that water! Rain or shine, I always carry a jacket/poncho, umbrella, Ziploc bags and garbage bags to protect my gear and myself because you just never know! haha Hope many of you can make it to the game to support the Lunas as they compete for the state championship!
