For those of you that didnt get my message last night or who didnt get the follow-up: I got punched in the head 3 times by a patient last night at work. I had some loss of peripheral vision on my left side briefly and obviously it hurt and my head was kind of swimmy but I never lost consciousness/memory/cognitive function/motor skill, etc. and my CT scan came back negative for concussions or other such business and somehow the eye below the orbit that got punched is NOT black today. Chewing kinda hurts, points of impact are very sensitive, and that orbit is swelling (no visible swelling of my right temple or my chin-tip). For better or worse I did not hit the patient back. After the first hit I was kinda dazed - no dizziness or lightheadedness, but tunnel vision, dont recall hearing any sounds, talking and moving didnt really occur to me for some reason though I did put my hands up. I did not see his arms on any of the swings, possibly because the first one was a surprise, the second was in the damaged peripheral vision, and the third one was while my head was in motion from the second. After the third my coworkers restrained the patient and police soon showed up. Got checked out at the ER and my older brother and girlfriend arrived to help get me home since, as I suspected, the dr. suggested I not drive last night. I will be off until next Friday when I suspect my injuries will no longer be tender enough to need too much babying. Let this be a lesson to martial artists everywhere. Train for full contact. I basically lost all reasoning and motor planning after one hit to the temple that didnt even give me a concussion. :D
