For those of you who are hoping that the EPA-dCon agreement might make Peets Coffee a gulit-free experience: Sadly, the Peets issue is still as big an issue as ever. (1) Reckitt Benckiser (d-Con) doesnt just turn off the chemical faucets. They will be bringing out d-Con 2.0 to make sure they dont lose the market share for sale to the public. We are all scrambling to figure out what the new chemical is, how it got through EPA, and what its potential is for non target poisoning of wildlife, pets, and kids. LOTS to be concerned about. (2) Also RB will still sell the old product to licensed pest control businesses LEGALLY, so we will see the old anticoagulant rodenticides in our neighborhoods, in bait boxes at schools, restaurants, indiustrial parks, government. (3) I say this with a deep sense of personal anger for what used to be a great local company and product: SAY GOODBYE to PEETS - if you care about poisoned pets and wildlife, dont drink PEETS. This is not the Peets of five years ago. It is now part of a deeply embedded complex of chemical and household industry products that are fighting for their legal right to poison our kids, hawks, and dogs and cats. Theres enough other good coffee to go around. For eco-friendly coffee, try birdsandbeans or for a local Bay Area coffee, try Weavers Coffee or Philz Coffee. No more Peets.
