For those of you who are not familiar with falconry, this bird has been trained by a Falconer to attack these geese. Some may not view it as sport, but this video shows the incredible tenacity with which falcons attack their prey. Peregrine Falcons (not the species shown here) attack their prey in flight from above by going into a dive called a stoop. They achieve the highest speeds of any bird and recent radar tracking of these birds in a stoop indicate possible speeds of up to 400 kph! They strike their prey with their talons, braking momentarily before hitting their prey, usually on the neck. I know of an instance where a Peregrine Falcon in SA struck an Egyptian Goose with such force that it completely severed the gooses head in flight.
