For those of you who continue to publish news links about science as your status updates that populate my newsfeed, please keep in mind that if it is not peer-reviewed scientific evidence and has not been published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, that the information is in fact at best theoretical and has not been validated, proven (or disproven), replicated, or accepted by the scientific community as scientific evidence. Until high quality randomized controlled trials are conducted to evaluate the evidence of claims that are reported on blogs or other media outlets, then please keep in mind that this information may be misleading and you may be propagating misinformation that is not valid or accepted as scientific proof or fact. There are no free passes in the scientific method and all follow the same rules and principles that govern the body of medical research and this is through peer-reviewed article submission and acceptance into scientific journals that is governed by peers in the scientific community.
