For those of you who dont already know, four months ago my doctors informed me that I would need a heart transplant asap. Even though I have been living with a heart condition for the past eight years, I have been lucky that it has remained stable with medications. In June, my heart worsened and has been increasingly degenerating since. I have now been diagnosed with congenital heart failure and well as pulmonary hypertension. Most of you know me as this crazy character who likes to put on a show and make people laugh. But under that persona is a proud and often too stubborn man. Up to this point I have not felt completely comfortable sharing my troubles with the Facebook world. I guess there is a part of me that is self-conscious and I dont want people to feel sorry for me. However, people are starting to catch on that something is not right in the Vece household. Therefore, I feet that now is the proper time to talk about what is going on in mine and my families life. Please send happy thoughts, positive energy, and warmth our way. I will be fine, but I am concerned about the toll of the stress this has taken upon my wife. My children, God bless their souls, realize that their daddy is sick, but because of their ages, seven and six, do not have a complete understanding of the complexity or severity of the situation. I face a very long road ahead of me, but I will keep my chin up and persevere, and in the end all will be well. I look forward to being able to play monster with my girls again without getting completely out of breath after 15 seconds. Sorry for such a long post. God Bless!!
