For those of you who dont know him this was my platoons medic on our deployment to iraq. Today I got the news that we lost him to the number 1 killer amongst veterans which is suicide.. anyone who has spent time with hipsley knows he was a good guy , kinda quiet but at the same time once u get him going he would probably annoy the shit outta u. If our platoon could have a little brother it was him.. everything from hiding his sat phone to giving him deadlegs to the point where he couldnt walk with Freddy Pachanga and then me and Thomas Corbisiero dumping a bottle of baby powder in his pillow so when he drops on his cot like he always would it would cover his entire head so we can get a laugh. Or when he was outside tossing rocks cause there was absolutely nothing to do wed tell him to see if he can hit stuff just so we can see that ridiculous wind up he would do b4 he threw it. And there are 100s more storys we could tell like that but the bottom line is he really cared about the guys he was with . anything from you sneezing to him asking if u need meds or wanna get checked out to stuff alot more serious then that like when I fell off the roof that night he was begging me for weeks after to get checked out as if it was himself. He was a good friend and a tough soldier when push came to shove he knew his shit which is why he was awarded a bronze star with Valor .he would always tell people like me corbo Chris Perkins Ricky Philips and Cristian Alexander Guillermo that he wasnt a city boy like us and when I told him to come to the city he said I dont know anyone in the city ... so he may not be Paul walker or Robin Williams or any other of the celebritys that passed away and everyone heard about but hes deffinitly a brother to myself and many b4 and after our time in service. I normally wouldnt ask this but if you could please share this so now even tho doc cant be here physically he Wil get that city cred that he was missing . Rip hipsley if we could do it all over again Id hope to have u on my side again 100%. Ptsd is real if you know of a veteran that isnt acting like their usual self ..talk to them or lend your ear it can make a huge difference. Thanks
