For those of you who dont think that what has been happening in Hong Kong is relevant to you, I urge you to think about how sometimes freedom can be taken for granted. Something as simple as looking through your Instagram feed is an exercise of freedom that Chinese people currently cannot do on account of this Umbrella Revolution in HK. And while China can continue to ignore civil liberties and restrict the freedoms with voting in HK (and continue believing in the false notion that HK democracy is not an important interest for them), I hope that other governments (including our former colonizers who are usually so quick to advocate for democracy in any other context) can begin to voice their support for the pro-democracy camp...
