For those of you who don’t know me, I am Tom’s sister. We wanted to bring everyone up-to-date on Tom’s health issues. In March he was hospitalized with pancreatitis. That hospitalization led to further testing and he was diagnosed with small cell cancer of the lung and kidney. After chemo treatments the large mass on the lung had disappeared. This gave us hope. After another long hospitalization we learned that he also had cancer in the pancreas. He went through 2 rounds of a different chemo treatment. On Monday of last week we learned that the cancer has spread and the tumors have grown in all locations. The health care providers told us he had 3 weeks to 3 months. He is in Iowa with my parents and chose to be under the care of Hospice. His daughter Brianna will stay with my parents where she is already established in school and my husband and I will also have guardianship. While this is a difficult time, we are at peace knowing that Tom has faith in the Lord. I will keep you all posted. Thank you to everyone for the kind words and prayers.
