For those of you who have had difficult relationships with your father, have you been able to wipe his face off of the face of God? This isnt at all in any way to demean any earthly father who ever lived. This is simply to recognize that we naturally carry the paradigm of how we saw our earthly father into our paradigm of our heavenly father. If your earthly father was very loving, gentle, kind, affirming, joyful, then you probably had an easier time recognizing the goodness of our heavenly father. But if yours was not, you may have carried over the negative perspective you had of your earthly father onto your heavenly father. If you dont know what your heavenly father is like - look to Jesus. Hes the exact representation of the Father. He is perfect love, acceptance, joy, excited about life, has a heart for justice & mercy for those oppressed, bound, addicted, in shame and guilt. Hes a defender of the weak and the provider for the poor. Hes perfectly good in every way. Even if you had an amazing earthly father, it pales in comparison to our heavenly father! So I ask again, have you been able to wipe your earthly fathers face off of Father God?
