For those of you who may remember my recent saga of the Man-eating - TopicsExpress

For those of you who may remember my recent saga of the Man-eating Rat of Rudraprayag (well, one post actually), here is the next instalment in that chilling series - We caught one rat in the sticky pad trap a couple of days ago and heaved a sigh of relief only to find the next day that it did not appear to be the dreaded man-eating rat as we had thought, but probably another and altogether lesser, possibly feebler-minded, rat - and moreover one that we are now convinced was sent in as a decoy by the actual man-eater. We base our conviction on the fact that the next day we saw an even bigger and uglier rat than the one we caught, sitting quietly (as if plotting his next move) on the ventilator of the kitchen door, and also on the fact that last night we saw a single paw-print in the sticky pad but with no rat attached to it. I am further convinced that not only is the rat surviving and thriving, but is now actively out to get me because it seems like he has started randomly turning off the broadband modem UPS switch during the night (and sometimes in the day time too). This has happened at least 3 times that I know of, and unless our house is haunted (which is also a possibility that cannot be denied outright), my money is on the rat doing it. Because, as everyone knows, if there is one thing calculated to drive me off the deep end, it is unpredictable lack of internet access - and it is not as if MSEB and my broadband service provider were not already doing enough towards that end!
