For those of you who might not know, we are proudly a part of 350.org. And we are meeting them soon at Global Power Shift ( Their AMAZING conference in Istanbul next week ). You are all invited to participate in the Phase2 of Global Power Shift. so stay tuned with IYCC. Take a look at a short story about who we are and what we are going to do. IRAN READY FOR A POWER SHIFT "Meet Farzad and Mostafa; two Power shifters from Iran who are excited to be joining climate activists from more than 130 countries at the GPS Istanbul summit this June. Farzad, a student of music whose passions lie in linking environment to music, actually came to know about 350.org and GPS through his favourite music band, Radiohead (who are ardent supporters of the climate movement). Farzad has plans to hold many concerts with his band in order to deliver his environmental message to people in his country. Mostafa is an environmental lawyer, interested in the politics of environment, sustainable development and climate change in particular. He’s participated in a number of workshops so far and tries to apply what he learns from those events to the situation in his home country. The Iranian GPS Team has already managed to meet with key activists/NGOs in Iran to see how they can collaborate in order to raise climate awareness. They have discussed different possibilities including specifying target groups, organizing peaceful campaigns and workshops to bring climate change to the heart of environment debates in their home country. They’ve even set up an Iranian Youth Climate Coalition facebook page to start building movement and bring on new allies and supporters. The team is currently preparing their two-year (Phase 2) GPS plan, which they’ll be sharing with other teams from around the world at the Istanbul summit. It’s worthy to note that both Farzad and Moustafa have opted to take a train from Tahran to Istanbul instead of a plane to cut down on their carbon footprint – a great sign of their commitment to a Global Power Shift!"
