For those of you who stepped up and contacted your legislators and Secretary Burwell through our letter with the Center for Medicare Advocacy, we are giving you a virtual pat on the back...but only briefly. You said you adamantly oppose the new Medicare rules that take away a physically dependent persons full ability to communicate and there is no doubt you were heard. Here is what you did: 30,938 emails were sent to 539 members of congress and Secretary Burwell. Secretary Burwell alone has received 7,688 emails. This issue has been going on for far too long with no change, despite efforts to enact legislation, affect appropriations, advocacy meetings, etc. It is our position, that until these rules are changed, allowing patients their human dignity, we will not stop. If youve already emailed this letter, be annoying, do it again. Love, Team Gleason
