For those of you who work for wages that are not much better then the minimum wage, this is one political issue that you really ought to be concerned about. Both Democrats and Republicans seem to think that immigration reform is very important. Both political parties get campaign cash from big businesses that want the cheapest labor they can get. That is why they lobby for immigration reform. They claim that these immigrants are only doing jobs that Americans wont do. The reality is that a lot of people have figured out that it really doesnt pay to work for minimum wage when welfare pays as well as it dose. People here illegally dont qualify for welfare. If restaurants didnt have so many workers available who are willing to work for slave wages then they would be forced to raise their wages. I doubt that the price of a hamburger would increase enough to stop me from eating at a fast food restaurant. The unemployment rate is still way too high. We dont need more cheap labor. Raise the price of food in restaurants and pay the workers a living wage.
