For those of you with completely built out spaces / permanent structures, when dealing with a multi level structure, do you completely frame out each level or do you use shared walls? Ive tried to include a sketch, focused primarily on the wall condition that would exist between both the upper & lower platform. The larger structure is composed of many of these level changes, not just the sample shown here. 1 is where a single shared wall between the two platforms/boxes/changes in heights is used, creating a single structure. The lower platform rests on a 2x4 that runs across the length of the shared wall (indicated in thick red) upon which the joists of the lower platform will be resting upon. 2 is where both platforms are completely independently framed out (creating some redundancy at the point where the two platforms touch) and possibly later connected so that they can not separate #2 seems more structurally sound, but I dont know if its necessary. #1 leaves me with concerns of sheer failure at the point at which the lower platform meets the shared wall. I do understand that it will be supported on all 4 sides, but even so....
