For those still interested in getting their own Boss microstudios, heres a quick update: Ive been recording acoustic guitar hooked up to a VE-20 twin vocal pedal so far, and the stereo-in mini jack connection has been ultra-sensitive as a line input out of the pedal. Earlier today I had the mic plugged into the VE-20 but forgot to switch the unit on. So the BR-80 automatically used the stereo condensers, which were nowhere near the soundhole. While this is a digital device, old-fashioned signal-to-noise ratio notions matter, unless you wait till mixdown to clean up with the on-board mastering suite, which Im told is a bit tricky to tweak. Anyhow, the signal was excellent, recorded with the condensers on a level with a neck, not the body at 38% volume input level. Gonna try out some alternative vocal presets on the unidirectional mic I have D-Id into the VE-20 later. Youll have the first multitrack results from the pocket studio from me next month, and the first live vids will have a BR-80 audio stream, recorded through the condensers then treated and mastered if needs be. Lunchbox-sized studios dont come any better, I can tell you that much already.
