For those that choose not to read my lengthy treatise carefully explaining why I decided to change my relationship status, heres the cliff notes. Im a follower of Christ, as are many of you. Hes the only Lover I want. August 26, 1984 is when I decided to start following Him. Decided about seven years ago I wanted to be considerably more single-minded, and cease supplementing my love for Him with love for any particular woman beyond friendship (while pretending to be all about Him). So Im taking myself off the market symbolically. Unless He shows otherwise in a way thats clearly Him (and not me putting words in His mouth over whatever woman Im drooling over at any given year, or simply coveting happy-looking families like yours). And when I first started thinking I might want to remain single, I didnt publicize it on Facebook or anywhere else, for fear you might call me a fool (or think Im a martyr looking for a pat on the back saying there there, you just need to meet the right one. I even continued dating casually (or friendships with emotional benefits). I am drawing attention to it this week because I covet your prayers more than your props or cliches. I treat my Savior more like a mistress than my Lord more often than not, and its surely nauseating to a holy God who was never under any obligation to save me in the first place. No Im not becoming a monk. Just trying to become more content with my circumstances. Emphasis on trying. I fail every day. Grateful for mercy. And your friendship. Some of you especially.
